Taichung Huizhong Overpass

2026.1.8 CULTURAL & CREATIVE INTERACTION

The Huizhong Overpass is a pedestrian bridge located at the intersection of Huizhong Road and Section 3 of Taiwan Boulevard in Taichung, Taiwan. During the 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival, under the theme "Glamorous Taichung: One Axis, Four Bridges," the Huizhong Overpass was illuminated with an interactive fusion of sound and light. Using light as a medium, it connects people with light, and light with the city, creating a symphony of illumination that reflects the cultural essence of each city. This transformed an ordinary overpass into a popular photo hotspot, promoting nighttime activities and adding new brilliance to urban infrastructure.

Outdoor microphones were installed at both ends of the Huizhong Bridge. Combined with StrongLED Grand Canyon's CV5E linear lights, the lighting control systems RTP-S1500 and DMX-S8, and interactive technology integration, people can interact with the bridge's lights through clapping or shouting. Visitors on both sides of the bridge can call out to each other, using light waves to compete in lung capacity, turning the lighting experience into more than just a visual spectacle. This enhances interaction between people and between people and the city.
