2016/12/15 to 2017/1/8, Amsterdam Light Festival’s illumination route will showcase light installation artworks, one of which is the "Rhizome House" designed by DP Architects. Drawing inspiration from natural rhizomes, the design echoes the festival’s theme of “biomimicry,” presenting natural structures in an artificial form.
The installation is made of translucent, weather-resistant high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Through parametric design, it takes on an intricate, rhizome-like form, embedded with small-sized full-color LED lights (DS1A) capable of 1,024 brightness levels. Combined with the installed lighting control system, the colors can be freely transformed, further realizing its design concept.
